THE BULGA OPTIMISATION PROJECT
ARA ELECTRICAL CONTINUES WORK ON BULGA OPTIMISATION PROJECT
In February 2015 by Glencore Coal to carry out high voltage reticulation works on the Bulga Optimisation Project in Bulga, NSW. As part of a $400m project to extend the life of the mine until 2035, our scope of work consists of supplying and installing electrical infrastructure, plus reclaiming and relocating existing power lines for private high voltage networks, as well as the Ausgrid Network.
More specifically, throughout the project we will supply and install 28km of new 11kV private power lines with 48 core OPGW communications, 600m of 66kV underground cable, feeder alterations for a new 330kV power line crossing, seven pole top substations, four kiosk substations – for which we will service through remote tripping panels – and four polemounted automatic circuit breakers, all for private high voltage networks. We are also working on reclaiming and relocating approximately 3km of existing 66kV power lines.
For Ausgrid, our range of work entails supplying and installing 9km of new 11kV Ausgrid power lines, including one 400kVA pole substation, two 11kV underground sections, one intelliruptor and one three-tank voltage regulator unit. On top of this, we will supply and install 5.5km of new 66kV Ausgrid power line, plus reclaim approximately 7km of existing 11kV, and 4km of existing 66kV Ausgrid power lines.
Already completing successful works to date, ARA Electrical was requested to provide $6m worth of new works for 2016, with a projected completion date of March 2016.
